LOFT CONVERSIONS
Looking Up for More Space
Whether you’re dreaming of a quiet home office away from the bustle or a new master suite, a loft conversion is one of the smartest ways to add space and value. We’re here to handle the "how" so you can focus on the "where."
The "Tin Hat" Option
One of our first chats will likely be about a "tin hat." Essentially, this is a temporary roof scaffold that covers your entire house. It’s entirely your choice—some families prefer the extra protection because it keeps the British weather out and can help the work move along a bit faster regardless of rain. Others prefer to save the cost and go with traditional sheeting. We’ll give you the pros and cons for your specific roof, and you can decide what feels right for your budget.
The Magic of the "External Build"
The best part of a Filby loft conversion? For most of the project, you won’t even know we’re there. We do the heavy lifting and the messy work from the outside, keeping the "dusty stuff" away from your living areas. You’ll only see us inside your home on the day we "break through" to connect your new staircase to the rest of the house.
Thinking About the Fit
Lofts have unique shapes, and we love finding the potential in those nooks. We’ll encourage you to think carefully about how you'll actually use the space. If you’re putting in an ensuite, we’ll be the ones to ask: "If you're 6ft 4, can you actually stand up in that shower comfortably?" Or, if it's a room for the kids, we’ll remind you that they tend to grow—and fast!
Light, Air, and Easy Living
We’ll often talk about Velux windows to flood the space with light. Don’t worry about the height—you can get bespoke blinds to fit them perfectly, and there are clever poles (or even electric options) to open them if they’re just out of reach.
Your Vision, Our Skill
From narrower doors that save space to bespoke eaves storage, we can accommodate almost anything. The secret to a smooth loft build is just keeping that open dialogue going. As a family team, we’re always here for a chat to help you make decisions at your own pace.
Our Customer Photos
We have a confession! We often choose not to spend lots of our money on snazzy photographers and instead prefer to - keep it real - and share the photos provided by you, of your own homes.
